Broadway Barks is an annual animal charity event held in New York City to promote the adoption of shelter animals. Founded by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, the event has been held every July in Shubert Alley, starting in 1999. Performers, many from Broadway shows, present adoptable cats and dogs, with the participation of many animal groups from the New York City area.
This year, due the pandemic, we held our very first virtual Broadway Barks Across America on July 16, 2020 which allowed us to branch out across the United States with the help of a slew of celebrity personalities. You can view the event here.
The success of the virtual presentation allowed us to go even further with West End Woofs, the United Kingdom equivalent to Broadway Barks. Hosted by Elaine Paige and Bernadette Peters, West End Woofs aims to help dogs and cats in rescues and shelters around the UK find their forever homes, raise awareness of animal adoption in the UK as well as educate the British public on responsible pet ownership with the help of West End and British celebrities. The virtual event was held on November 9, 2020 and you can watch it below.
